The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Lightning Bolt (a barrel sample) is very deep purple-black in color with an earthy/meaty/gamy nose of baked black plums and black fruit compote plus Indian spices and earth notions. With lots of cedar and crème de cassis in the full-bodied mouth, it seems a bit foursquare, chewy and awkward at this stage, but it could well come around by the time it is bottled.
