Speri’s 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant’Urbano is an organic blend of the traditional grapes that make Amarone (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara). This warm-vintage expression is drinking beautifully right now, showing lots of intact primary fruit but also revealing subtle hints of bottle age with smoky and savory overtones. The wine is softly layered and rich with generous tones of blackberry, dried cherry, exotic spice and smoked mahogany. The tannins are fully integrated and soft, but the wine has the fruit weight and dense concentration to pair with a platter of aged cheeses. About 100,000 bottles were made.
