Jancis Robinson (16)
This has its own AOC for the first time in this vintage. One barrel out of five is new. A little hill, south facing, ‘like a baby Corton’, says Thiriet. Vines 30 years old. Big rocks. Difficult to describe the aroma, lightly spicy and mineral but also a touch cedary and citrusy. A little bit mealy/leesy. Lots of complex flavours. Really creamy in the mouth, almost hiding the freshness even though it is fresh. Peachy rounded texture with herby citrus flavour. Elegant and gentle but persistent.
