The 1978 Rivesaltes does not possess the clarity of the 1980, revealing a bit of sawdust and woodwork shop. The palate is much better with a viscous opening, bitter orange and honeyed notes. Touches of rose water and sultana emerge towards the elegant finish. It’s just the aromatics that slightly let it down.
