Dr. Burklin-Wolf • Forst Riesling Village Trocken – 2022
From eight-year-old vines planted in high density (8,000 vines per hectare) in the Pechstein and the Jesuitengarten grands crus, the golden-yellow 2022 Forst Village shows a deep, intense and refined bouquet with a very distinctive smoky/flinty note of basalt, firestone and sulfur spring. On the palate, this is a very elegant, saline and mineral, highly expressive Forster Riesling with a very fine and gentle acidity and a lovely and persistent mineral freshness with lingering salinity and fine bitterness. This is a remarkably fine and age-worthy wine that was bottled with six grams per liter of total acidity and a 3.0 pH. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure.

Carl Loewen • Maximin Herrenberg 1896 Alte Reben Riesling 2022
Tightly wound and compact, this is a very exciting dry Mosel riesling that deftly intertwines warm and cool elements. Stacks of red vineyard peach fruit and an intense spiciness give this a lot of immediate appeal, but the stony structure is still a bit dominant and needs more bottle age to fully resolve. Excellent aging potential. From vines planted in 1896. Vegan.

Two great Riesling wines, one from the Mosel region and the other from Pfalz.
