Deeper pitched than the Vosne-Romanée La Colombière, the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots unwinds in the glass with scents of cassis, plums and raspberries mingled with top notes of rose petals, espresso roast and rich spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it’s deep and layered, with an ample core of fruit and ripe, powdery tannins. It’s an especially charming rendition of this immensely consistent cuvée.
