Robert Parker (95)
The Mugneret-Gibourg 2015 Echezeaux Grand Cru opens in the glass with a complex bouquet of black raspberry, plum, bitter chocolate, bonfire and spicy notes framed by a judicious application of new oak. On the palate, the wine is velvety, full-bodied and ample, with an expansive attack, a deep core of cool fruit and beautifully refined, detailed tannins. This hails from two parcels—one in the lieu-dit of Les Quartiers de Nuits (which the sisters say contributes « black fruit » and a certain textural « rondeur »), the other in Les Rouges du Bas (which lends « minerality and precision »).
