Robert Parker (91)
The 1988 Clos Vougeot is a truly compelling wine. Its high quality is due in part to the fact that Mongeard’s parcel is located high up on the slope. It is deep ruby in color with a huge bouquet of raspberry and blackberry-scented fruit judiciously backed up by the aroma of spicy new oak. It is crammed with fruit and tastes medium to full bodied, long and rich.
